The theme for Day 24 is Inspired By A Book.
Just like last year, I turned to my favorite author to find inspiration for this challenge.
I chose to do my nails like the cover of Ellen Hopkin's Glass.
I think I really got this one dead-on!
To create this look, I started with a purple base (one coat of China Glaze - Gothic Lolita followed by one coat of Orly - Preamp) which I let set completely.
Then, I quickly applied a coat of Essence - Black is Back, and immediately dabbed off most of it with a balled-up tissue.
I really like the texture this technique creates! And it is perfect for the look from the book cover.
Another day complete! Just one more week to go!
That looks awesome. I'll have to try that method out sometime :)
ReplyDeleteOoooh gorgeous nails!

Another beautiful look/technique! I can't believe you created such a gorgeous look with a balled up tissue....now that's talent!
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful! I've never seen anything like it.
ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous! I love that author as well! The books are so intense.. I read Glass in one day!
ReplyDeleteThe textured finish you created with the tissue is really cool! I like this. :D
ReplyDeletei agree i think you did a brilliant job. love how dark it looks x
ReplyDeleteThis is dead on! The texture reminds me a bit of the saran wrap technique but with a bit more texture. Very cool!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! I think I'll try a combo like that soon! I thought you used Fantasy Fire or similar in top of the saran wrap layering so I'll do something this way <3
ReplyDeletegorgeous xx
ReplyDeleteI love this color combination!
ReplyDeleteOh, perfect job on this one, Rebecca! :D
ReplyDeletei am LOVING this!!!! purple and black together are so edgy/cool!
ReplyDeleteYou're so creative, I figured this for the saran wrap technique. FYI, Preamp is an an awesome polish for layering- I tried it over neon orange and it came out so beautiful, a slightly darker, shimmery version of Flip Flop Fantasy!
ReplyDeleteGreat book and great nails.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous, Rebecca! I wouldn't have thought you layered a purple & a pink, but I can see both under the black and it looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteSo gorgeous!! And so easy!! You really did "nail" it ;) (I NEED to read her books!!)
ReplyDeletethat is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteamazing, and love the colours you used!
ReplyDeleteThese look really cool! I love the colors, too.
ReplyDeleteLove this - thanks for giving us a new technique. I have the shades you used here (with a different black cream) - so going to try this...I am crazy for Preamp. But keep feeling now that fall is on us that it's a bit too summer looking - I wore it last week with Nubar Black Polka Dot over it and loved that. I am not sure how the Gothic Lolita works here if you let the Preamp dry other than maybe your Preamp did not cover fully and left bald spots in first coat? Guess I will know when I try it.
ReplyDeletethis came out amazing!
ReplyDeleteThis is so awesome; you really did get it dead on! Also I LOVE Ellen Hopkins :D
ReplyDeleteWow, these are so stunning! And even got an "ooh pretty" from my boyfriend as i scrolled down to comment :P
